Glory of Winter

March 21, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

We had our first major snowstorm the other day and I couldn't wait to get outside and take a few clicks. Everything is covered in white soft snow. I can almost hear it whisper when it's falling. My favorite spot to catch birds is in my friend's/neighbors backyard and a nearby forest preserve. She gets all kind of birds feeding off the many feeders she has. Some are handmade by her husband. She has a beautiful garden in the spring/summer with a pond full of fish and frogs. The other day I walked into her garden knee deep in snow and right in front of me was this beautiful Sharp shinned hawk sitting not 100 yards from me. It was amazing. It was a small hawk maybe a year old. I was told she comes  to hunt there. Its always exciting to get a good shot unexpectedly. It made my day :)

At this point she spotted me... and flew away before I could zoom out and click!
